STREETCRED STUDIOS IS A SOCIAL ENTERPRISE OWNED BY ARTFORCEIOWA

HERE’S HOW We WORK:

1. You request our services - screen-printing, photography and videography. No job is to small or too big.  You name the job. We can print shirts for any occasion, and then come and cover the event with high quality photography, videography, and video-editing services too.  Our prices are competitive.

2. Young people with difficult backgrounds get to work.  Our workshop is staffed by court-involved young adults who need work experience. They earn wages while they train and work in our studio. Our goal is that every StreetCred production assistant pursues post-secondary education or acquires a better-paying job before leaving StreetCred Studios.

3. Profits go to our programs. Every penny left after paying for operations goes to fund our suite of programs for at-risk youth in the city.

4. You get a great product.  We guarantee our quality.

THE STREET CRED Story

In 2014, the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines challenged the community to compete in the Ignite Innovation Challenge. This program encourages community members to think outside-of-the-box to solve ongoing issues.  In 2015, the 2nd year of the challenge, we pitched StreetCred Studios. We found that many of the youth and young adults we work with struggle to keep and maintain employment. We wanted to create a supportive environment where these young people can gain skills and momentum as they seek to grow professionally.

One of ArtForceIowa's LiftOff participants, Michelle Jackson, was promoted to Studio Manager after three months as a production assistant. Michelle runs the studio with two or three young adults, and together they handle the quotes, orders, client meetings, photo and video shoots, and live-screen printing at festivals and events. If you give us a call, ask for Michelle. Her phone manner is our fave.
